Here comes our CAM

Word on the street is FC Cincinnati is about pick up the CAM we have all been waiting for. The club is close to signing Gaston Pereiro from PSV Eindhoven. The 24 year old Uruguayan National has total of 60 goals in 195 club appearances in all competitions. He has also netted 4 goals and made 10 appearances playing for the Uruguay National team.

With the forthcoming addition of Yuya Kubo and now Gaston Pereiro it appears as if finding the back of the net won't be such an issue for the Orange and Blue. 2020 is looking to be awesome.

  1. So do you have any social media tags? it would be nice to read your writing in a context a little more defined than "musings of some random person".

Well that was strange.

Going into this season the feeling was that FC Cincinnati was going to play good defense and try to score goals on counter attacks. It worked against Portland and then it worked again against New England. Maybe it worked too well. FC Cincinnati is playing with confidence which is undeniably a good thing, however  it is starting to feel like our confidence is misplaced. We currently don't have a striker that can find the back of the net at will. We do have midfielders and forwards who seem to be moving the ball around well and creating chances but those chances are only making the FCC faithful gasp and not erupt with joy. Friday night was a 90 minute gasp. So many times we appeared to be building well and creating an opportunity only to come away with nothing. For 40 minutes it felt as if that breakthrough was going to happen at any moment. We had the game under control and 3 points felt inevitable. It seemed as if the Real Salt Lake goal was being covered by a Plexiglas Shield...

Take notice

I get it. This is only FC Cincinnati's second off season. Last season wasn't exactly anything to get excited about. After a great first month of the season we were quickly forgotten. It seems as if the Soccer Media has all but forgotten we exist. We have been swept under the rug... Some poor small market team that will just hoover around relevance. The MLS will happily rake in the money from the vibrant fan base but come on... you can't compete here. FC Cincinnati is on the verge of an amazing signing. Gaston Pereiro is only 24 years old and has had the interest of clubs throughout Europe. He is up and coming. Other than Pity Martinez when has there been such a high profile young player? This isn't the signing of a players who already spent their best years in the Premier League or in La Liga. (I'm looking at you LA Galaxy and Chicharito)This is a player that will instantly make our team not only better but a true competitor. And not just for a year or two. But ...

Are we ready to compete?

I’m starting to get excited. Perhaps too excited. I get the sense that the Yuya Kubo signing is just a crack in the dam. There is pressure building. The frustrations of a city desperate for a championship parade. The expectations of an ownership group that wants trophies. A controlling owner who wants to leave his mark in the city he loves. It’s all building. We were told to expect two Designated Players before the season starts. We got one. Yuya is a major upgrade that will get our squad out of the cellar and into the conversation. I doubt he alone will propel us into the playoffs, but as we have been told, we are not done upgrading. There seems to be buzz that our next DP will be the bigger of the two signings. The 10 that we have so desperately been seeking appears to be on our radar. There are rumors and I believe credible individuals saying that our target is still Uruguayan Gaston Pereiro. Pereiro would be a huge signing not only for FC Cincinnati, but also MLS. We have ...
